Meeting was called to order at 6 p.m. By Earl and compliance with the
open meeting law was noted.
Moved by Haugen, seconded by White to adopt the agenda. Motion
carried.
Moved by White, seconded by Midthun to approve the minutes of the
April 9, 2003 meeting. Motion carried.
COMMUNICATIONS:
Muhlenbeck handed out the following documents:

Preparedness Update
Increasing the Awareness of "Static" Car Fires
BUSINESS ITEMS:
Becky Giese, public health nurse, explained to the Board her
programs. The programs were, Maternal and Child Health Grant work,
Immunizations and Children with Special Health Care Needs.
DEPARTMENT UPDATES:
- Monthly reports were presented by Muhlenbeck. Moved by Kreigl,
seconded by Haugen to add the monthly reports to the minutes of the
meeting. Motion carried.
- Moved by White, seconded by Haugen to approve the April 2003
vouchers totaling $29,039.05. Motion carried.
- Moved by Midthun, seconded by Schlender to approve the following
Medical Standing Orders:
Administration of Adult Immunizations, Collection of Lab Specimens
in the Investigation and Control of Communicable Diseases
Administration of Prescribed Medications for the Control of
Communicable Diseases
Recommendations for the use of Over the County Medications
Collections of Lab Specimens and Testing Programs
Recommendations for use of Over the County Medications for
Treatment of Lice
Recommendations for use of Over the County Medications
Motion carried.
- 4. Wagner gave an update on Bioterrorism. We have hired an
administrative Assistant, Melissa Delmore and are in the process of
hiring a Communication Coordinator.
- Muhlenbeck reported that this last Tuesday and Wednesday the
Health Department sponsored our 10th Annual Rural Safety Day for third
graders. 770 children plus teachers and helpers attended. They were
split between the two days. The topics covered were:
Gun Safety
Chemical Safety
Bicycle Safety
Fire Safety
Seat Belt Safety
Electrical Safety
Large Equipment Safety
Lawn Mower Safety
Home Safety
Small Animal Safety
Large Animal Safety
First Aide
- Muhlenbeck informed the Board that the second meeting with the
Wisconsin Dells business and concerned agencies regarding the health
care of the International Students met. They are working on policies and
education materials to give to the students and businesses. Next meeting
will be on May 22, 2003.
- Haugen had to leave early so there was no report.
Next meeting of the Board of Health is scheduled for June 11, 1003 at
6 p.m.
