The regular meeting of the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation Committee was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 1:00 p.m. by Art Carlson.
Members present: Arthur Carlson, Rose White,, Judy Ashford, Henry Netzinger, Carol Sorg
Members absent: Lola Huber, Peter Tollaksen
Others present: Kathy Schauf, Donna Nuewirth, Ruth Young
The agenda was approved on a motion by Ashford, second by Netzinger, and an unanimous vote of the Committee. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved on a motion by Netzinger, second by Sorg, and an unanimous vote of the Committee.
Introductions were made.
Donna Nuewirth presented information regarding ongoing initiatives in the arts and historic preservation as well as cultural initiatives in Reedsburg.
Ruth Young presented information regarding her musical designed for children which highlights area history.
Distributed information from the Assembly of Local Arts Agencies, and the Wisconsin Historical Society.
Consideration of a proclamation for October Arts and Humanities month.
Motion by Ashford, second by White to proclaim October as Arts and Humanities Month in Sauk County.
Motion carried.
Consideration of events for October Arts and Humanities Month.
Discussion of Humanities Speakers and topics for the public celebration of Arts and Humanities Months. Anne Pryor will be speaking in Rock Springs on October 26, 2004 with the topic "Tour Wisconsin Through the Works of its Traditional Artists", and Robert Birmingham will speak at the Sauk County Historical Society on Indian Mounds on Thursday, October 14, 2004.
Consideration of attendance at the Cultural Resource Planning Workshop, September 10, 2004.
Sorg, Carlson, and Schauf will be attending this workshop.
There are no vouchers to approve.
Meeting adjourned on a motion by Ashford, seconded by Netzinger, with an unanimous committee vote. Next meeting date was set for 4:00 p.m. on October 08, 2004, in room 213 of the West Square Building, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
