Arts, Humanities, and Historic Preservation Meeting Minutes


The regular meeting of the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation Committee was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 4:00 p.m. by Art Carlson.

Members present: Arthur Carlson, Rose White, Judy Ashford, Henry Netzinger, Carol Sorg, Lola Huber, Peter Tollaksen

Members absent: None

Others present: Kathy Schauf

The agenda was approved on a motion by Tollaksen, second by Netzinger, and an unanimous vote of the Committee. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved on a motion by Tollaksen, second by Netzinger, and an unanimous vote of the Committee.

Communications:

Distributed information from the Assembly of Local Arts Agencies, and the Wisconsin Historical Society, and the Wisconsin Humanities Council.

Thank you note from Ruth Young for allowing her to appear at the August committee meeting.

Discussion of Art And Craft Fairs Directory. Sauk County will not participate due to prohibitive cost for listing.

Discussion of receipt of request for funds from Mike O'Connell for a book project. Mr. O'Connell will be forwarded information regarding the 2005 grant process.

The Wisconsin Autumn Historic Preservation Conference will be held on October 22-23, 2004 in Milton / Janesville.

The Quilter's Stories will be held November 4, 11, 18, 2004, Thursdays form 4:00 -6:00 p.m. At various locations throughout the state.

The Sauk City Sesquicentennial concert will be held on October 17 at the River Arts Center. Will feature a performance by Shari Sarazin and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.

Discussion on Arts and Humanities Month activities

Discussion of Humanities Speakers and topics for the public celebration of Arts and Humanities Month. Anne Pryor will be speaking in Rock Springs on October 26, 2004 with the topic "Tour Wisconsin Through the Works of its Traditional Artists", and Robert Birmingham will speak at the Sauk County Historical Society on Indian Mounds on Thursday, October 14, 2004. There will also be a presentation made at the October County Board meeting.

Discussion of the 2005 grant cycle including changes to process and the updating of documents and their availability in electronic form.

Updates:

Artist Registry - No new applications to consider.

County Courthouse - The subcommittee will be supplying a report after their October meeting.

There are no vouchers to approve.

Meeting adjourned on a motion by Ashford, seconded by Tollaksen, with an unanimous committee vote. Next meeting date was set for 4:00 p.m. on November 12, 2004, in room 213 of the West Square Building, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
