Arts, Humanities, and Historic Preservation Meeting Minutes


The regular meeting of the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation Committee was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 4:00 p.m. by Art Carlson.

Members present: Arthur Carlson, Rose White, Judy Ashford, Henry Netzinger, Carol Sorg, Lola Huber, Peter Tollaksen

Members absent: None

Others present: Kathy Schauf

The agenda was approved on a motion by Tollaksen, second by Netzinger, and an unanimous vote of the Committee. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved on a motion by Ashford, second by Netzinger, and an unanimous vote of the Committee.

Public Appearances/ Public Comment:

None

Communications:

Discussion on cuts affecting the State Historical Society.

Business Items:

Discussed efforts to increase historic preservation efforts. Discussed past initiatives (Historic register, workshops, posters, etc.). Discussed creative ways for furthering historic preservation from development of initiatives to become a Certified Local Government etc. Ideas will be discussed further at the next meeting. Brochures, public service announcements and work with other local government agencies were suggestions for increasing awareness regarding the importance of historic preservation.

S. Sarazin prepared a proposal regarding the state ballad and the preparation of music for choirs and bands. Motion by Tollaksen, second by Carlson to request Ms. Sarazin to prepare a detailed proposal for presentation at the next meeting. Motion carried.

Grant announcements have been mailed and press releases have been distributed regarding the upcoming grant cycle.

Updates:

Artist Registry - No new applications to consider.

County Courthouse - The subcommittee reported on current events being planned. A report after their December meeting.

There are no vouchers to approve.

Meeting adjourned on a motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Netzinger, with an unanimous committee vote. Next meeting date was set for 4:00 p.m. on December 17, 2004,at the Sauk County Historical Society, Baraboo, Wisconsin. A tour of the facility will be provided after the meeting is adjourned.
