Communications Infrastructure Committee Meeting Minutes

  1. Meeting called to order by Chair Bychinski at 5:15p.m. Certification of compliance with Open Meeting Law was met.
  2. Adopt agenda: Motion by Hartje, second by Montgomery to adopt agenda. Carried.
  3. Adopt minutes: Motion by Stevens, second by Hartje to approve minutes of last meeting. Carried.
  4. Communications: None
  5. Business Items:
    1. Review Fiber Optics Bids and coincide Resolution: Reviewed bids on the Fiber construction from Reedsburg to the Delton Tower. Discussed the use of existing fiber duct owned by Reedsburg Utility from the Zobel Substation to the Reedsburg Highway shop as an alternative to Sauk County completing Fiber Leg and possible cost saving. Discussed Reedsburg Utility's interest in the fiber from Reedsburg to Lake Delton and how to determine its value, if a trade of fiber for duct is to be made. Some quick calculations were made by Tim Stieve and Phil Raab for what the value might be to determine a lease value. Don Stevens spoke on the issue that the trade of fiber for duct must be a fair trade to the County.

      Motion by Hartje, second by Montgomery to approve the resolution excepting fiber bids for: White Construction to install fiber optic cable between Delton, Baraboo, Happy Hill and Reedsburg, to contract with J&R Under Ground to complete fiber optic installation and splicing within the existing duct owned by Reedsburg Utilities, and to contract with Killoren Communications to complete slicing of fiber optic cable between Delton, Baraboo, Happy Hill and Reedsburg.
