Management Information Systems Committee Meeting Minutes


DATE: June 9, 2004

The MIS Committee was called to order at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2004. Members present were: Stoeckmann, Netzinger, Gaalswyk, Krueger and White. Meeting called to order by Stoeckmann. Motion to adopt agenda by Gaalswyk, seconded by White. Agreed on by committee.
Motion carried.

Motion to approve last month's special committee meeting minutes by White, seconded by Gaalswyk. Agreed on by committee.
Motion carried.

Motion to approve minutes from the April meeting by White, seconded by Netzinger. Agreed on by committee.
Motion carried.

Communications - None.

Update on Communications Infrastructure Project - Pate advised that a resolution is being brought before the Board at the June meeting to contract for the engineering to construct the fiber-optic network and explained the benefits of fiber-optic vs. microwave to the committee. Krueger indicated that he would like to see some accounting for the actual costs and savings to the County from the new system when constructed.

MIS Budget Process - Pate explained how the annual MIS budget process works and the steps needed to complete it.

Discussion of 2005 MIS Budget Priorities and Timeline - Pate provided the committee with a list of priorities for the 2005 budget process. He explained the priorities were derived using the department's IT Plan. The Priorities are as follows:

  1. System Maintenance
  2. System Compliance
  3. System Utilization
  4. Availability of Funding
  5. System Improvement

Motion to approve priorities by Krueger seconded by Gaalswyk. Approved by committee.

Motion to approve May vouchers made by Krueger, seconded by Netzinger. Agreed on by committee. Motion carried.
