Arts, Humanities, and Historic Preservation Meeting Minutes


DATE: October 14, 2005

The regular meeting of the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation Committee was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 1:00 p.m. by Art Carlson.

Members present: Arthur Carlson, Rose White, Judy Ashford, Lola Huber, Henry Netzinger, Peter Tollaksen,Jay Salinas

Members excused: None

Others present: Kathy Schauf, Peter Shrake, Bill Holding, Barbara Morford, Derrick Gee

The agenda was approved on a motion by Ashford, second by Huber, and a unanimous vote of the Committee. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved on a motion by Salinas, second by Ashford, and a unanimous vote of the Committee.

Communications

Chairman Wenzel reported via Judy Ashford on the dedication event at the Painted Forest.

Bob Holding of the Spring Green Area Historical Society presented the details of initiatives.

Business Items:

Discussion and consideration of a request for funding for activities in relation to the Center for Creativity and Innovation. Barbara Morford, and Derrick Gee presented information on the Center for Creativity and Innovation, including programmatic initiatives.

Motion by Ashford, second by Tollaksen to fund the request for $5,000 for the Spring Green Area Arts Coalition, Center for Creativity and Innovation.
Motion carried.

Consideration of a proclamation proclaiming October, Arts and Humanities month.

Motion by Tollaksen, second by Salinas to approve the proclamation proclaiming October, Arts and Humanities month.
Motion carried.

Discussion and consideration of underwriting costs associated with listing Sauk Craft fairs on state site.

Committee discussed the issue and chose to forego funding at this time.

Updates:

Artist Registry - No new applications to consider.

County Courthouse - The subcommittee reported on current events being planned.

Humanities Speakers - Presentations completed for 2005. Catalog to be distributed at next meeting.

Historic Preservation Month - Display has been set up in the Sauk County West Square Building..

Cultural Resources Directory - December draft is being anticipated.

No vouchers to approve.

Meeting adjourned on a motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Ashford, with a unanimous committee vote. Next meeting date was set for 1:00 p.m. On November 11, 2005, at the River Arts Center, Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin.
