Arts, Humanities, and Historic Preservation Meeting Minutes


The regular meeting of the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation Committee was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 1:00 p.m. by Art Carlson.

Members present: Arthur Carlson, Rose White, Judy Ashford, Lola Huber, Henry Netzinger, Peter Tollaksen,

Members excused: Jay Salinas

Others present: Kathy Schauf, Mary Dickey, Brad Toberman, Ann Parker

The agenda was approved on a motion by Tollaksen, second by Huber, and a unanimous vote of the Committee. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved on a motion by Tollaksen, second by Huber, and a unanimous vote of the Committee.

Public Appearances / Public Comment

None

Communications

Mary Dickey presented information regarding visual arts events at the River Arts Center.

Ann Parker detailed the "From Mexico with Love" an arts project that crossed cultural barriers, increased understanding and appreciation for the Mexican culture in schools.

Brad Toberman presented on events at the River Arts Center, and use of the space as a cultural resource center.

Business Items:

Consideration of request for funding from the University of Wisconsin Baraboo - Lady Luxury Motion by Ashford, second by Tollaksen to postpone vote on funding until all fundraising endeavors associated with the project have been completed.
Motion carried.

Updates:

Artist Registry - No new applications to consider.

County Courthouse - The subcommittee reported on current events being planned. Budget will be discussed at the next meeting.

Inventory of Historic County documents - On hold.

Humanities Speakers - Presentations completed for 2005.

Historic Preservation Month - Display has been set up in the Sauk County West Square Building..

Cultural Resources Directory - December draft is being anticipated.

Motion by Tollaksen, second by Netzinger to approve vouchers in the amount of $5,000.
Motion carried with a unanimous committee vote.

Meeting adjourned on a motion by Carlson, seconded by Netzinger, with a unanimous committee vote. Next meeting date was set for 1:00 p.m. On December 13, 2005, West Square Building.
