DATE: January 11, 2005

The MIS Committee was called to order at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2005. Members present were: Stoeckmann, Netzinger, Gaalswyk, Krueger and White. Meeting called to order by Vice-chair Netzinger.

Guest: Bailey

Motion to adopt agenda by Gaalswyk, seconded by Krueger. Agreed on by committee. Motion carried.

Motion to adopt minutes by Gaalswyk, seconded by White. Agreed on by committee. Motion carried.

Communications - Pate attended PZLR meeting. Brenson is retiring and thinks that the County no longer needs a County Cartographer. The demand for a cartographer has changed, system is now electronic. Gene Wiegand is proposing that Pate oversee the Mapping department. Felton would be the Land Services Officer and the dept. Would still be overseen by the PZLR committee. Pate would thus have to report to 2 committees. Since the Mapping Department relies on electronic formats, it would be beneficial for this dept. To be combined with MIS. Discussion followed.

Resolution to purchase Tri Min for Register of Deeds - Bailey said that by the 1st of this year had to decide whether SOARING product would work - would rather go with Land Shark software developed by Tri Min. Bailey explained advantages of software to committee. The money for this software would be coming from the Land Records and no levy funds. Cost to county would be $10,000 instead of $20,000 if purchased ASAP. Discussion followed.

Motion to approve resolution by White, seconded by Gaalswyk. Agreed on by committee. Motion carried.

Update on SOARING - Pate explained that SOARING was down at end of year. He believes that Sauk County can support this product internally until a replacement software is found. During the downtime, there were lots of calls, a good indication that the product is used.

MELYX update - HCC Committee has directed Business office to find replacement for this software. There is $25,000 in budget for review and selection of new system. Need to contact other counties to find out what is being used at other facilities. Downside of this is that it cost $30,000 for upgrade, which just took place recently. Discussion followed

Update on Supervisor email - Pate explained how there are a few using this. Some PCs will be set up for supervisors to use in County building.

MIS Dept. Update -

Motion to approve vouchers by White, seconded by Gaalswyk. Agreed on by committee. Motion carried.

Next meeting scheduled for February 8, at 5 p.m.
