The meeting was called to order by County Board Chairperson Wenzel at 4:30 P.M. and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.

Motion by Fordham, seconded by Endres to approve the agenda, as amended.
Motion carried.

Motion by Endres, seconded by Dippel to elect Chairperson Wenzel to chair the joint meeting.
Motion carried.

Motion by Haugen, seconded by Volz to consider the resolution entitled, "Creating a Campus Living and Learning Center Development and Building Committee and Establishing a Framework for Proceeding with the Development of a Residence Hall/Learning Center at the University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County College".
Motion carried.

Campus Dean, Michael Brophy, gave an overview of the proposed project, followed by a question and answer/discussion period. The Dean estimated total construction cost for this project to be in the 5 - 6 million dollar range, with the majority of funding to be raised by private donations and fund raising events.

It was noted at this point, Sauk County has appropriated $100,000 in planning and design development funding. As it appears, the City of Baraboo is not financially able to contribute funding to the planning or future costs of the project. Baraboo Mayor, Pat Liston, indicated the matter will be an item of discussion at an upcoming City Council Committee meeting of the Whole.

Several interested members of the public spoke in support of the project, however, some Committee members expressed concern over the apparent lack of involvement from the City of Baraboo.

Campus Commission member, Andrea Lombard, reported on information she gained while visiting a privately operated residence hall at the UW-Richland County Campus.

Following discussion, a motion was made by Zowin, seconded by Endres to postpone consideration of this resolution until an appropriate time, after the City of Baraboo has input.

Motion by Dippel, seconded by Endres to adjourn. Motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 5:45 P.M.

Respectfully submitted: Beverly J. Mielke, Sauk County Clerk
