Arts, Humanities, and Historic Preservation Minutes



DATE: June 8, 2007

The regular meeting of the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation Committee was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 1:05 p.m. by Art Carlson.

Members present: Arthur Carlson, Judy Ashford, Rose White, Tommy Lee Bychinski, Dale Loomis, Peter Tollaksen, Molly Arbogast
Members excused:
Others present: Paul Wolter, Larry McCoy, Dale Jaedike

The agenda was approved on a motion by Bychinski, second by Tollaksen, and a unanimous vote of the Committee.

The minutes of the prior meeting were approved on a motion by Tollaksen, second by Ashford, and a unanimous vote of the Committee.

Public Appearances / Public Comment:
*Art Carlson gave an update on the Spring Green Sesquicentennial.
*Dale Jaedike gave an update on the Historic Preservation month photo contest
*Larry McCoy discussed the restoration of the Al Ringling Theater Lobby

Business Items:
Discussion regarding the Historic Preservation Award Program

Discussion of 2008 Budget:
Motion made by Tollaksen, second by Ashford to approve the 2008 budget as presented. Approved.

Renewal of Arts Wisconsin membership.
Motion made by Tollaksen, second by Ashford to renew the Arts Wisconsin membership for one year. Approved.

Sponsor David Drake as a Humanities Speaker as part of the Spring Green Sesquicentennial Celebration
Motion made by Bychinski, second by Tollaksen to approve sponsoring the David Drake presentation for July 27, 2007 in Spring Green. Approved.

Discussed the pursuit of a "Wisconsin Regranting Program" Grant.
Motion made by White, second by Loomis to submit an application to the Wisconsin Arts Board, and pursue a "Wisconsin Regranting Program" Grant. Approved.

Discussed the Restoration of the Al Ringling Theater Lobby.
Motion made by Ashford, second by Loomis to grant $4500 to the Al Ringling Theater lobby restoration project. Approved.

Sponsorship of Humanities Speakers for 2007
Tabled for further discussion July 20, 2007

Updates:
Artist Registry - None.

Mini grant requests. - Review Mini-grant application by the River Valley High School Art Department
Motion made by Tollaksen, second by Loomis, to Approve the River Valley High School Art Department Mini-Grant Request for $490.54. Approved.

Motion made by Tollaksen, second by Loomis approving vouchers of $14,166.00, with a unanimous committee vote.

Meeting adjourned on a motion by Tollaksen second by Ashford, with a unanimous committee vote.
Next meeting date was set for 1:00 p.m. on July 20, 2007.
