The regular meeting of the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation Committee was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 1:00 p.m. by Art Carlson.
Members present: Arthur Carlson, Dale Loomis, Peter Tollaksen, Tommy Lee Bychinski, Rose White
Members excused: Molly Arbogast, Judy Ashford
Others present: Paul Wolter, Orris Smith, Phyllis Dearborn, Joan McArthur, Ron Birdd, Dale Jaedike
The agenda was approved on a motion by Tollaksen, second by Bychinski, and a unanimous vote of the Committee.
The minutes of the prior meeting were approved on a motion by White, second by Tollaksen, and a unanimous vote of the Committee.

Request to add "The Joan McArthur Residence", 1107 Birch Street, Baraboo to the Historic Registry
Motion made by Bychinski, second by White to approve the request. Motion approved.
Discussion of assisting The Old Franklin Township Historical Society with a software purchase
Motion made by White, second by Bychinski to assist The Old Franklin Township Historical Society with $1615 for the purchase of "Past Perfect" software to assist in archiving museum artifacts. Motion approved.
Discussion of 2008 Budget
Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation is scheduled to go before the Finance Committee at on Sept. 26, at 9:45 am.
Sponsor an additional Humanities Speaker for 2007
John Eastberg, historian for the Pabst Mansion will give his presentation "The Architectural Firm of Ferry & Clas" at the Park Hall, Sauk City, as part of the Wisconsin Humanities Council Speakers Bureau on October 10, at 7 pm. Firm partner Alfred Clas was born in Sauk City in 1859. The firm designed the Sauk County courthouse, the Charles Ringling Mansion and the Van Orden Mansion. Alfred Clas designed Park Hall in Sauk City as well.
Updated information on creation of a DVD based on Paul Wolter's Historic Homes of Sauk County presentation
The MIS department does not have the equipment to copy the program on to DVDs, but they suggested a vendor who could do it at a cost of $4 per DVD.
Firehouse on the Healthcare Center Property
Ron Birdd relayed information on the firehouse building, and previous restoration projects.
Motion made by Tollaksen, seconded by Bychinski for Art Carlson to draft a resolution to be sent to the Property and Insurance Committee encouraging preservation of the building. Motion approved.

Meeting adjourned on a motion by Bychinski second by Tollaksen, with a unanimous committee vote.
