Carlson called the meeting to order and certified compliance with the open meeting law.
Vandre moved to approve agenda, seconded by Irwin, passed by unanimous vote.
Approval of March 21, 2007 meeting minutes. Tucker moved to approve minutes, seconded by Vandre, passed by unanimous vote.
Thill reported approval of continued and new members:
Bert Vaillancourt, Betty Irwin, Carie Pieper, and Charlotte Taylor
Irwin moved to nominate Art Carlson for chairperson, seconded by Vandre, passed by unanimous vote. Irwin moved to nominate Bert Vaillancourt for vice-chairperson, seconded by Vandre, passed by unanimous vote.
Carlson stated that the assisted living tour was valuable. Irwin added facilities were accommodating and seemed well designed to care for the elderly and disabled. Vandre recommended facilities tour for all new members..
Carol Olson, Outreach Specialist for Wisconsin Alzheimer's Association, presented information about the South Central Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. She distributed a handout and discussed the mission of this organization, as well as the programs and services that this organization provides. Ms. Olson emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related brain disorders. Sauk County Memory Walk will be held on September 15, 2007, at Oschner Park. Services through this organization are free of charge.
Vandre stated that the Regional Southwest ADRC (Aging and Disability Resource Center) Coalition is still in the planning stages. Group is deciding on how resource center core services will be provided in each county. Orth stated that the ADRC implementation in Sauk County will begin in the first part of 2008. Commission on Aging will be the lead agency for the ADRC. Sauk County Department of Human Services Long Term Support and Disabilities units will provide the care management services. Orth stated that the Human Services Board made formal decision for Sauk County to participate formally with the Southwest Coalition for the ADRC and care management organization. Partnership programs will be invited to provide their services in Sauk County as well. This will hopefully provide more choice & resources for our citizens. Orth also indicated that the State Joint Finance Committee recently approved a 5-year plan that will result in a gradual decrease in Sauk County's contribution to Family Care services.
Public Comment: Vandre reported that the Transportation Coordinator has been hired. Town Hall meetings will be held in the near future.
The next meeting will be held on October 17, 2007.
