Law Enforcement Committee

A special meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement & Judiciary Committee was held at 8 AM on Friday, October 12, 2007, in Room D102A of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Center, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

  1. Call To Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law:

    The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by Chair Donald Stevens at 8:00 AM.

  2. Agenda:

    Motion by Montgomery, seconded by Tollaksen, to adopt the amended agenda.
    Motion carried.

  3. Communications:

    There were no communications.

  4. Public Comment:

    There was no public comment.

  5. Consideration and Possible Approval of Resolution to Create an Additional Twelve (12) Deputy Sheriff-Security Project Positions, One (1) Jail Administrator Project Position, One (1) Clerk Project Position and One (1) Half-time (.5) Jail and Occupational Health Nurse Project Position for the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department:

    Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Montgomery, to approve the resolution. Discussion followed concerning clarification of the Fiscal Note. Controller Beghin, who was consulted via phone, said she would add verbiage on the fiscal note as the committee requested and the resolution could be signed. A change or addition to the fiscal note would not require the Finance Committee and the Personnel Committee to have to revisit the resolution. The wording agreed upon to the resolution’s fiscal note is “This Table Represents 2008 Budget Year Only.”

    There was no further discussion. Vote on the motion was called by Chair Stevens. Tollaksen, Montgomery and Stevens voted to approve the resolution and Sinklair and Wheeler voted against it.
    Motion carried.
