Public Health Board

Absent: Kriegl, Clement

Also Present: Muhlenbeck, Bodendein, Konkel, Lally, Delmore

Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. By White and compliance with the open meeting law was noted.

Moved by Hague, seconded by Schlender to adopt the agenda,
motion carried.

Moved by Schlender, seconded by Horenberger to adopt the minutes of the previous meeting with the following changes: Motion was carried to adopt the agenda and the minutes of the previous meeting. Under communications, add Smidl handed out the annual WIC report. Bodendein distributed an article on dental care and the Smoke Free news. Remove the word "by" in the first sentence under G.
Motion carried.

Appearance by Melissa Delmore, Preparedness Educator. Delmore discussed what and where the Department was in relation to the 2007 Pandemic Objectives and the 2007 preparedness objectives.

COMMUNICATIONS:

Muhlenbeck handed out to the Board the following:

Sauk County Data Package - produced by the Southern Regional Office, Jennifer Ulsvik.
Flyer regarding the New Health Insurance for farmers and agri-businesses that the State will be providing.

Flyer regarding "An informal discussion of FamilyCare, the redesign of long-term care in Sauk County".

BUSINESS ITEMS:

Discussion followed regarding the DATCP resolution that will be taken to the County Board tomorrow night. The Board of Health formally signed the resolution.

Bodendein led the discussion regarding "Form 1" 2008 budget. Mission, Vision, Department Summary and Goals were discussed. Bodendein and Muhlenbeck will be meeting with Kathy Schauf next week to discuss what the Board of Health is working on. It was decided that this will be a long process and it will take several Board meetings to finish "Form 1".

DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES:

  1. Moved by Horenberger, seconded by Haugen to add the monthly reports to the minutes of the meeting. Motion carried.
  2. Moved by Hague, seconded by Horenberger to approve paying the March vouchers totaling $19,772.35. Motion carried.
  3. Moved by Delong, seconded by Haugen to approve the resolution "Commending Sandy Schlender for 11 years of faithful service. It was noted by the Board the wonderful work Schlender has done on the Board and what an asset she was. Motion carried.
  4. Moved by Hague, seconded by Horenberger to approve the resolution "Eliminating a part time dietetic technician position and a creation of a part time registered dietitian. Motion carried.
  5. Haugen discussed with the Board new legislative updates.

Next Board of Health meeting was set for 05/09/2007 at 6 p.m.

Moved by Schlender, seconded by Horenberger to adjourn.
Motion carried.
