Public Health Board Minutes

Absent: None

Also Present: Bodendein, Konkel, Lally, Smidl, Schauf, Orth, Koehler, Health Department staff

Meeting called to order at 6 P. M. White, and compliance with the open meeting law was noted.

Moved by Haugen, seconded by Clement to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

Moved by Haugen, seconded by Clement to adopt the minutes of the June 13, 2007 meeting. Motion carried

Moved by Horenberger, seconded by Kriegl to adopt the minutes of the July 11, 2007 meeting. Motion carried.

COMMUNICATIONS:

Bodendein distributed NALBOH News Brief and article from the Baraboo News Republic on preparedness functional drill and information provided by Haugen for the legislative update.

White distributed a draft memo from Mary Young Southern Regional Office on DHFS Guidance to Counties Regarding the Development of a Human Services Department.

Noted by White the receipt of a letter from the Public Health Department Staff opposing the restructuring of the Health Department, considerations for board of health members regarding merging of health and human service departments, and DHFS Chapter 251

BUSINESS ITEMS : Kathy Schauf distributed Reorganization of Health Department Management budget information, proposed Public Health management structure, job duties of the divisional director, deputy director and home care administrator, and information queried from counties that have combined or shared management in their Health and Human Services Department. Discussion ensued regarding restructuring the public health department. The board agreed they needed time to review the information and that discussion would take place at the September meeting. In the mean time, Cindy Bodendein will continue to function as the interim director.

DEPARTMENT UPDATES: A. Moved by Clement, seconded by Haugen to add the monthly reports to the minutes of the meeting. Motion carried.

B. Moved by Haugen, seconded by Horenberger to approve paying July vouchers totaling $25,332.97. Motion carried.

C. Moved by Kriegl , seconded by Horenberger to approve resolution commending Beverly J. Muhlenbeck for thirty one years of service to Sauk County. Motion carried.

D. Moved by Horenberger, seconded by Clement to approve the resolution authorizing the Sauk Public Health Department to accept the donation of the St. Clare Foundation. Motion carried.

E. Haugen gave a brief presentation on legislative updates.

Next Board of Health Meeting is set for September 12, 2007 at 6 P.M.
