Arts, Humanities, and Historic Preservation

The regular meeting of the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation Committee was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 1:00 p.m. by Art Carlson.

Members present: Arthur Carlson, Dale Loomis, Molly Arbogast, Judy Ashford, Rose White, Tommy Lee Bychinski
Members excused: Peter Tollaksen
Others present: Orris Smith, Paul Wolter, Marty Krueger, Dale Jaedike

The agenda was approved on a motion by White second by Loomis, and a unanimous vote of the Committee.
The minutes of the prior meeting were approved on a motion by Ashford, second by Bychinski, and a unanimous vote of the Committee.

The Committee watched part of the Spring Green Sesquicentennial Celebration dvd provided by Art Carlson

Discussion of art and history panelist recommendations for first round of 2008 grant requests
Motion made by White, second by Ashford award grant amounts as recommended by the panelists on both panels. Approved.

Discussion of the next steps regarding the Sauk County Historic Homes dvd created by Paul Wolter
Motion made by Loomis, second by Bychinski produce a minimum of 125 copies of the master dvd provided by Paul Wolter. Approved.

Discussion of 2009 Vision, Mission and Goals

Discussion and consideration of partnering with the Sauk County Historical Society to create a Historic Preservation program for 2008.
Motion made by Bychinski, second by Carlson to proceed with the program outlined by Paul Wolter. Press release to be sent Approved.

Discussion of the Man Mound Park Centennial Celebration. The park was founded August 13, 1908, the Sauk County Historical Society owns the land and is planning a celebration for August 9, 2008.

Meeting adjourned on a motion by Ashford second by Arbogast, with a unanimous committee vote.
Next meeting date was set for 1:00 p.m. on April 11, 2008, in Room 213, West Square Building.
