Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Tollakson, second by Stehling to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Request by Supervisor Huffaker for change of vote on Humanities and Historic Preservation grant awards.
Huffaker requested for a change of vote on the Aldo Leopold Foundation grant request due to conflict of interest. Motion made by Tollaksen, second by Stehling to grant the request. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Tollakson, second by Stehling to approve the minutes of the last meeting as amended. Motion carried.
Communications
A thank you was received from Ellen Paul on behalf of the River Arts, Inc.for approving their grant request. Judy Ashford also showed the plaque Sauk County received for hosting the WAC Conference at the Kalahari. She presented the plaque to Lynn Zick to hang in the Extension Office as Lynn had put together the "Taste of Sauk County" for the conference.
Public Comment
Orris Smith, from the Sauk County Historical Society, reported that the DVD's on the Historical homes had been completed.
UW Extension 2009 Budget
Erickson and Nagelkerk talked about the 2009 UW Extension budget including that the copier cost of $15,000 had been taken out of the budget.
Monthly Report/Review and Approval of Vouchers (UW Extension)
A motion was made by Tollaksen, second by Wiese to approve the UW Extension vouchers for the month of October in the amount of $2582.22. Motion carried.
UW Extension - Department Update
A presentation was given by Erickson explaining "What does a UWEX Community, Natural Resources, Economic Development (CNRED) Educator Do?" Brusveen gave a presentation about the Soils Quality Program that was held at the Randy Puttkamer Farm and the upcoming series of web programs for farmers.
ARTS & CULTURE
Monthly Report/Review and Approval of Vouchers
A motion was made by Tollakson, second by Wiese to approve the October voucher in the amount of $300.00. Motion carried.
Approval of mini grants, grants, artist registry and historic registry
None
Report from Supervisor Huffaker on Economic Committee issues
Huffaker reported that she had attended an Economic Committee meeting. Right now they are still working on the goals and mission statement along with a budget..
Presentation by Dale Jaedike on possible web site updates
Jaedike gave an overview of what the Arts & Humanities web site looks like now and then showed some of the possible updates for the new web site.
Consider changes in grant instructions requiring some cash match instead of 100% in kind contributions and establishing clear guidelines as to what may be used for in-kind contributions.
Ashford will be attending a seminar in Stevens Point which will be addressing these very issues.
Discuss possibility for Vista worker to assist in support of the arts & culture portion of UW Extension as suggested by Supervisor Huffaker.
A discussion was held about getting a VISTA worker to help with the Arts & Culture workload (including possible web site). Sue will talk with Jessica about the possibility.
