The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at 9:50 A.M., in room D102A-Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

1. Call To Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law : The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by Chair Donald Stevens at 9:50 A.M.
2. Agenda : Motion by Montgomery, seconded by Sinklair, to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.
3 . Approve Minutes of Previous Meeting : Motion by Sinklair, seconded by Wheeler, to adopt the minutes of the December 11, 2007, meeting and the minutes of the January 8, 2008, meeting. Motion carried.
4. Communications : There were no communications.
5. Public Comment : There was no public comment.
6. Appearances : There were no appearances.
7. Sauk County Animal Shelter Operations Update
Shelter Director Wendy Schneider passed out the Director's Report for January, 2008. She reported that she had met with an architect in regard to an addition to the present shelter building.
A fund raising dog walk will be held on May 3, 2008.
8. Review and Approval of December, 2007, and January, 2008, Bills for Coroner and Sheriff's Department : The Coroner's bills for the month of December, 2007, totaled $1,811.36 and January, 2008, expenses were $4,581.63.
Motion by Montgomery, seconded by Tollaksen, to approve payment of the December, 2007, bills for the Coroner in the amount of $1,811.36 and for January, 2008, in the amount of $4,581.63. Motion carried.
The Sheriff's Department's bills were reviewed and discussed. Sheriff Stammen reported that 2007 inmate boarding revenues for housing had been received but because they were deposited in 2008 they don't show up on the 2007 printout. That will be corrected when the 2007 accounts are closed and all revenues and expenses are placed in the correct fiscal year. There are also some monies that need to be credited from payments from the drug seizure accounts and other donations.
Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Montgomery, to approve payment of the Sheriff's Department's December, 2007, expenses in the amount of $42,406.36 and January, 2008, expenses in the amount of $118,644.85. Motion carried.
9 . Consideration of Bids for Purchase of 2008 Four-Wheel-Drive Vehicle to Replace 1998 Ford Explorer and Resolution to Purchase : The following bids were received:

Chief Deputy Meister stated that he had contacted Smart Motors and Zimbrick Honda and did not receive a bid from either dealership for a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Montgomery, to accept the low bid of Kayser Ford for purchase of a 2008 Ford Explorer for a final price of $21,217, and to approve a resolution for the purchase to be brought before the Sauk County Board of Supervisors at the February 18, 2008, meeting. Motion carried.
10 . Adjourn To Date Specified: The next regular meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at 9:30 A.M.
Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Wheeler, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
