Chairperson Wedekind called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M.and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.
Motion by Haugen, seconded by Giese to approve the agenda for today's meeting, as mailed. Motion carried.
Motion by Giese, seconded by Haugen to approve the minutes from the December 18, 2008 meeting, as mailed. Motion carried.

Financial Report:
A comparative balance sheet as of 12/31/08 was distributed by C. Giese, City Clerk. The sheet indicated a balance of $59,262.14 in the Designated Capital Equipment fund; minus YTD change in fund balance of - $1,679.47; bills presented for payment at this month's meeting, plus any additional 2008 expenses, would also be deducted from this balance. Chairperson Wedekind reminded Commission members of other expenses to the Capital Equipment Fund which have been spent during last year and subsequently no money has been set aside with which to renovate campus lab facilities.
Giese reported a bill will be forthcoming for sidewalk installation on campus property in the amount of $20,957.57; discussion followed on future projects as well as continued use of a portion of the property by the general public for recreational sledding on the snow.
Maintenance Report and Approval of Bills:
R. Griffith presented the monthly report and list of bills. Motion by Haugen, seconded by Geimer to approve the report and bills in an amount of $6,657.03 (2008) and $7,824.72 (2009 carpet for A-4). Discussion followed over the concern in paying for the carpet prior to installation without having actual possession; Giese will contact the City Attorney for legal counsel regarding this situation. Motion carried.
Dean's Report:
Dean Peger reported on the following:
* University has moved forward with a formal request to the Governor and federal representatives on a list of projects they would like to see funded by economic stimulus funds.
City and County officials have sent a letter to the Governor, elected representatives, and officials in the UW system encouraging support for the use of economic stimulus dollars for infrastructure projects at the University of Wisconsin Baraboo/Sauk County campus; the UW Chancellor will write a separate request highlighting our concerns.
* Search continues to fill some vacant faculty positions.
* Degree signing event will be forthcoming regarding Bachelor of Leadership.
* Good response to the "Winterim" session.
* New tile has been installed, and added an improved appearance, to the Library entrance.
