- Updates on Aging Program Services
Kamrowski will take over the Sauk Dining Center and will revive Café Connections. This runs daily from 9-11 a.m. and includes a daily activity. ADRC will provide coffee and donuts.
The Lake Delton Dining Center is open and thriving—consistently has 13-19 people daily. ADRC will continue to extend outreach.
Merrimac Dining Center is closed; ADRC will consider a possible community dining site there in the future.
Home Delivered Meals continue to grow. Brown asked why an additional staff was hired at the Healthcare Center; this was to accommodate need. Cost was met by adding twenty cents per raw food meal.
Meals are now reviewed by two nutritionists prior to being prepared; this ensures that nutritional requirements are met. Before, there was not enough time for this review.
Moore asked about the waiting list for Home Delivered Meals. The waiting list is over; all eligible people receive meals. Clients are also given a home visit to assess overall quality of life and to see what other services they could benefit from. Caregivers living in the home also receive a meal now.
People living outside of our hot-food radius are offered frozen meals. Meals are delivered one week at a time. The delivery person (Tobias) monitors clients and reports concerns to I&A for follow-up.
- Caregiver—support group ideas
Caregiver scholarships are $400 each and will be given to 20 families in 2016. If all funds are not dispersed ADRC will reach out to caregivers in need.
The ADRC will take over the Grandparent Support Group in Sauk. This group was created by Sauk Prairie schools for grandparents who are raising children.
The caregiver retreat is in Reedsburg in April; the time is approximately 12-4pm.
- Evidence-based Classes—what do you want to see offered?
Our funding requires us to provide evidence-based classes. There is nobody currently trained; the ADRC will train five staff members in Stepping On and Powerful Tools for Caregivers. Due to the budget ($4,000) these are the only two classes we will offer this year.
Gramling suggested the ADRC look into Mental Health First Aid; ADRC will look into this and would offer to staff or volunteers interested.
- Community Support and Outreach—BRACE info and concern with ADRC clients
Frail and vulnerable people (much of our client base) are most at risk during weather emergencies. ADRC would like to prepare clients on what to do in a weather emergency in regards to the storage of shelf stable foods and other things, such as transportation during weather emergencies.
- (*) Items on the Horizon
- (*) Volunteer Breakfast
The volunteer breakfast is tentatively scheduled for May 19, 2016 and will be held in Baraboo; The focus is dementia. The ADRC is working to coordinate bus pick-ups for anyone in need of transportation to the breakfast.
- (*) Older Americans Month
Ideas include storytelling or a free picnic at each dining center during May.
- Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eagle Country Board Update
Gramling shared that the Eagle Country ADRC has been recognized in state as a model.
- Public Comment; None.
