Volunteer Opportunities

ADRC Volunteer

Serve Your Community

Volunteerism changes the lives of everyone involved. Whether providing a ride to an appointment or delivering a meal to an older adult, you will find purpose when volunteering for the ADRC. Volunteers are one of the most critical pieces to keeping our programs running. If you are thinking about volunteering and wondering what volunteer opportunity would suit you best, it might help to ask yourself some questions:

  • Do I enjoy learning new things, or do I prefer doing something I'm already familiar with?
  • Do I want to meet new people or would I prefer to work independently?
  • How much time can I commit?
  • What are my strengths, talents and hobbies?

If you decide you'd like to become an ADRC Volunteer, please read about our current volunteer opportunities:

Volunteer Escort Drivers

Volunteers provide non-emergency transportation to older adults and adults with disabilities. Rides to medical appointments and employment are the bulk of trips requested. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicle and are required to have proof of valid automobile insurance and a valid driver's license. Mileage reimbursement for volunteers is at the current IRS mileage rate.  You choose how often and when you want to volunteer.

Meals on Wheels (MOW) Drivers

MOW volunteer drivers deliver a hot nutritious meal to MOW participants during the lunch hour and are providing a daily check-in to make sure everything is ok. MOW volunteer drivers use their own vehicle to deliver meals and have the option to receive mileage reimbursement at the current IRS mileage reimbursement rate.  Volunteers are required to have proof of valid automobile insurance and a valid driver’s license.  Most volunteers like to drive one day a week, but you can also choose to drive twice a month or as often as you like. Our dining sites are located at Highpoint Commons in Baraboo, the Sauk Prairie Community Center in Sauk City, the Frank Fischer Senior Center in Lake Delton, and the Cornerstone Missionary Church in Reedsburg. We also deliver meals to the La Valle area from the Sauk County Health Care Center.

Dining Center Helper

Assist in setting up the dining room, serving meals, cleaning up, etc. as well as helping package meals for Meals on Wheels delivery. Dining Center Helpers also help create a warm, friendly and welcoming environment to diners who join us for meals. If doing dishes isn't your thing, serve as a host to our dining site to ensure new diners feel comfortable!

Staff Support

Volunteers assist with a variety of office duties to aide the ADRC in providing information.  This can include filing documents or working on special projects such as packing Blizzard Packs for Meals on Wheels participants. Staff Support Volunteers also provide telephone coverage at the ADRC front desk when ADRC staff is unavailable to do so. If you have a talent/interest to share that’s not listed – we want to hear from you! Let’s get together to see how you can use those talents to become part of the ADRC family.
