CodeRED to Replace NIXLE

******** CodeRED Replaces NIXLE for Emergency Messages October 2024 ********

On October 1, 2024, Sauk County Emergency Management sent a message to current subscribers of NIXLE to register for CodeRED. Recent challenges in emergency messaging and lack of effective 24/7 support required a change to a different platform. Use of NIXLE for community messages reduced the effectiveness for emergency communication. The original intent of these systems like NIXLE and CodeRED was for emergency messages. Future CodeRED messages will be priority-based related to personal safety.

What We Do

Operating under Wisconsin State Statute Chapter 323, Sauk County Emergency Management coordinates emergency response and recovery efforts in support of local governments. Through planning, training and exercising we prepare ourselves, our communities and response personnel to minimize the loss of lives and property.

Emergency managers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMT/paramedics, and other emergency responders do an incredible job of keeping us safe, but they cannot do it alone. We have a personal responsibility to be prepared – in doing so; we contribute to the safety and security of our communities as well.
