REASON FOR MEETING:  SPECIAL MEETING – PARK TOUR

SUBJECTS FOR DISCUSSION:
 

1.  Call to order and certify compliance with open meetings law

2.  Adopt agenda.

3.  Tour White Mound Park (approximately 8:15 a.m.)

4.  Travel to Lake Redstone Park/Beach located at S4522 Douglas Rd, LaValle (Approximate arrival 9:45 a.m.)

5.  Tour Lake Redstone Beach (Leaving at approximately 10:00 a.m.)

6.  Travel to Douglas Landing located on the southwest side of Douglas Rd, west of the East Redstone Drive (Approximate arrival at 10:15 a.m.)

7.   Tour Douglas Landing (Leaving at approximately 10:30 a.m.)

8.   Travel to North End Boat Landing – S4765 LaValle Rd, LaValle (Approximate arrival 11:00 a.m.)

9.   Tour North End Boat Landing (Leaving at approximately 11:15 a.m.)

10.  Travel to Hemlock Park and Dam – E3601 N Dutch Hollow Rd, LaValle (Approximate arrival 12:00 p.m.)

11.  Tour Hemlock Park and Dam (Leaving approximately 12:30 p.m.)

12.  Travel back to White Mound Park – S7995 White Mound Drive, Hillpoint (Approximate arrival 1:15 p.m.)

13.  Next meeting dates – Tuesday, July 28 and Thursday, August 13.

14.  Adjournment

SAUK COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Land Resources and Environment Committee

Friday, July 17, 2020

Sauk County Park Tour – White Mound Park, Lake Redstone Park/Beach, Douglas Landing, North End Boat Landing, Hemlock Park and Dam

 

Land Resources and Environment Committee members present:  M. Krueger, R. Nelson, R. Curry, D. Polivka, V. McAuliffe, P. Kinsman, and B. Lohr.

Absent:  R. Puttkamer

Others Present:  L. Wilson, M. Stieve, R. Demaskie

At 8:15 a.m. Krueger called the Land Resources and Environment Committee meeting to order.  Wilson certified to be in compliance with Open Meetings Law.

Adopted Agenda:  Motion by Curry/Lohr to adopt the agenda as presented.  Motion carried, all in favor.

Tour White Mound Park

Committee members viewed the new park building, campground, horse camping, and boat launch.  Discussed the building process and funding sources used for construction of the new building.

Tour Lake Redstone Park/Beach

Committee members viewed where the old shelter was located.  Discussed the roof replacements that occurred throughout the park system and the dangerous intersection for those entering/exiting the park.

Tour Douglas Landing

Committee members reviewed the rip rap project as well as the new benches.

Tour North End Boat Landing

Committee members reviewed the park facilities, bathroom removal area, and the posts that are provided for boat parking.  Discussed additional improvements projected for the area.

Tour Hemlock Park and Dam

Committee members viewed the fishing pier and park area.  Committee members viewed the dam and the utility location markers.  Committee members discussed the damage that was sustained during the flood, the tree removal required by the DNR, and the grant opportunities.

Next meeting dates – Tuesday, July 28 and Thursday, August 13.

Motion by Polivka/Curry to adjourn at 12:38 p.m.  Motion carried, all in favor.
