Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

April 12, 2016

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 09:31 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

                        Members Present:        B. Wenzel, J. Deitrich, C. Lehman, M. Dent, D. Moore

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:30 am.

 

  1. Agenda:  Motion by Moore seconded by Deitrich to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

  1. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Moore seconded by Deitrich to approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) March 8, 2016.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Communications:

            -Thank you note from Rep Dave Considine on the WDOT award

            -Thank you letter from Village of McFarland for Deputy Weinke’s assistance to their                                            department following the death of Officer Copeland

            -Letter from John Meitner and Sharon Pittman thanking Detective Lins for his assistance                                      with a scam case.

            -Thank you letter and cake from Lois Gould thanking us for the assistance in finding her                                       husband.

-Thank you letter from City of Janesville for our assistance with the Donald Trump political rally.

-Thank you letter from Wonewoc School for the tour of the Jail.

-Letter informing us of an approved grant.

  1. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update and budget presentation:

Animal Shelter took in 32 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 35 dogs.  They also took in 59 cats and adopted out/transferred out 24 in the month of March. The Animal Shelter also took in 4 guinea pigs and 2 parakeets and 1 rabbit. They adopted out 2 guinea pigs. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 2 bite cases both dogs. They responded to 30 calls and impounded 13 dogs, 10 cats.

 

 

  1. Review and approve March 2016, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Lehman seconded by Moore to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for March 2016 in the amount of $3,483.79.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Review and approve March 2016, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Moore seconded by Lehman to approve payment of the Sheriff’s expenses for March 2016, in the amount of $158,395.48. Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Monthly update on CJCC.

Janelle hired the new employee that will assist her.  Currently we have 8 members in Drug Court.

 

  1. Sheriff’s Report.

     

            Calls for Service for March 6,295 calls up 832 calls from 2015

                       

Overtime hours for March 2015 694.25 hours

Overtime hours for March 2016 1070.50 hours  Jail Vacancies and Jail Sick leave

            476.25 hrs difference

 

Prisoner Transports for March– 77 Transports

            11 Juveniles transported for March

            Juvenile Transport cost was $3,539.34

            Juvenile Housing Cost was $1,940

EM Report for March 269 offender days 

Collected $4,573.00 and invoiced $1,205.93. 

Difference of $3,367.07

           

Information that our Blood Draws for the first 3 months was $1,200 compared to a total of $3,125

 

We received a donation from the Sauk County and State Tavern League for $1,000

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 09:30 am. Motion by Deitrich seconded by Dent to adjourn the meeting at 10:11 am. Motion Carried.
