Minutes of Meeting

Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

January 16, 2017

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, January 16, 2017 at 04:07 pm, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

                        Members Present:        B. Wenzel, M. Krueger, J.Deitrich

Members Absent:       

                        Members Excused:      C. Lehman, W. Czuprynko, T. Kriegl

Others Present:            R. Meister, J. Spencer, J. Machovec, M. Stoddard, L. Lange, G. Hahn, Rose Greenwood,

Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 04:15 pm.

 

Agenda:  Motion by Deitrich seconded by Krueger adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Deitrich to approve minutes from December 13 meeting seconded by Krueger. Motion Carried.

 

Communications:

-Thank you card from family of Jardon Schlieckau.

-Thank you email from a bystander at a fatal accident scene thanking Det. McClure for her support.

-Email from Michael Prange reference a citation he received for speeding.

-County Board Chair Marty Krueger received a letter from reference the Humane Society from Jen Terry

Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:

Animal Shelter took in 31 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 28 dogs.  They also took in 82 cats and adopted out/transferred out 62 in the month of December. The Animal Shelter also took in 2 rabbits, 1 chinchilla and 5 guinea pigs. They adopted/reclaimed/transferred 1 rabbit and 1 Chinchilla. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 14 bite cases, 12 dogs and 2 cats. They responded to 25 calls and impounded 11 dogs and 20 cats. 

 

Review and approve December  2016, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Krueger seconded by Deitrich to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for December 2016 in the amount of $10,275.53.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

 

 

Review and approve December  2016 and January 2017, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Krueger, seconded by Deitrich to approve payment of the Sheriff’s expenses for December 2016 in the amount of $72,690.85 and January 2017 in the amount of $31,928.57.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

Consideration and approval of Resolution for Authorization to Purchase Seven Police Specification Squad Cars, Two Unmarked Squad and One Prisoner Transport Van

Motion by Deitrich, seconded by Krueger.  Motion Carried

 

Monthly update on CJCC.

20 participants in drug court. No meeting in December.  New mental health position is posted and will close on January 29.

 

Sheriff’s Report.

     

            Calls for Service for December 5,767 calls

                       

Overtime hours for December 2015 2,504.50 hours

Overtime hours for December 2016 2,483.66 hours 

Down 20.84 hrs from 2015

           

Prisoner Transports for December – 87 Transports

            12 Juveniles transported for December

            Juvenile housing cost for December was $8,195

            Transport cost was $4,001.60

Collected $2,890.00 and invoiced $809.84

Difference of $2,080.16

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 04:15pm. Motion by Deitrich seconded by Krueger to adjourn the meeting at 4:39 pm. Motion Carried.
