Jaime – SA month coming up in April; Hope House will be busy with activities; went to chief’s meeting last week to talk about sex assault referrals for children and adults; if conducting an interview please reach out for an advocate as it’s part of their rights so want to make sure it’s offered.
Danielle – Hope House SA program manager; doing graphics for April as SA awareness month for posting information about services; Suggestion to post through LE social media sites;
6. Request from I team to hold meetings in the mornings or back-to-back with them again.
I-Team was created as a result of funding streams becoming available; Rick provided background on I-Team; Decision to keep Victim Focus meetings the same times
7. Trends and/or Concerns
- Sexual Abuse cases in CPS are up
- Sexual Abuse cases in LE are up
- Concerns about bond:
-
- Discussed a case situation (maintained confidentiality of the minor) pertaining to a minor who disclosed and is now more fearful as a result of the perpetrator having low bond and being released.
- Discussed concerns about media articles and the possibility of doing trauma-informed articles/pictures
- Could bring bond concerns to elected representatives; bond shortcomings are a state-wide issue
- Criminal trials booking out to December; courts are working to hear backlog even if double-booked between branches
- Hope House numbers show a possibility of missed SA cases for adults/juveniles; request for LE if able, to get numbers on cases for Hope House to be able to cross-reference
- Sabol asked if school counselors should reach out to Hope House
*Hope House sexual assault program is separate from domestic violence
- Reminder to LE to get consent to inform Hope House
