1. Sue Meise called the meeting to order.
2. Andreessen moved approval of agenda, seconded by Braunschweig.
3. Approval of minutes: Under #5 on minutes, Braunschweig corrected a spelling error and corrected that Braunschweig is the appointed representative to the Sauk County Library Board, with Whitsell serving as the appointed representative to the South Central Library System Board of Trustees.

5. Review of annual calendar includes statutory requirements and recommendation to the county board to fill a current vacancy. Motion to approve by Slack, Second by Barb Morford. Approved.
6. Review Sauk County Library Bylaws Motion to approve by Slack, Second by Pat Andreesen, Approved.
7. Recommendation for vacancy for Sauk County Board appointment. Motion to approve Joan Fordham, second by Sue Meise. Approved.
8. SCLS Report by Martha Van Pelt. Annual report dates were shared. Audit will be done at the same time as annual report. Budget webinar on March 18. March 21, library directors meeting at Reedsburg. SCLS buying additional red bins for transporting materials. Monticello will be coming on in a couple months.
9.Librarian reports: Spring Green, Plain, LaValle, North Freedom, Rock Springs, Sauk City, Reedsburg, Ruth Culver, and Baraboo.
Spring Green – Former children’s librarian is hosting sewing classes; around 95 people attended animal science for kids event. Hosted first Fortnite program and ran into some challenges; Hosted 2 stargazing programs over the winter with John Heasley, a presentation by author Doris Green and the host of Farm Table. Library is hosting a play contest in May and upcoming Friends of the Library Chocolate Lab Fundraiser. The library has gone fine free! Library received a $5k grant from the WI Space Grant Consortium for a year of space-themed programming and will be presenting on the programs at the Annual Conference in Platteville.
Plain – Senior lunch and movie program and children’s movies all well attended. Reduced fines to 10¢ per day for all items and waived prior $1/DVD fines on patron records Lavalle- Cindi Morgan reported on her first 2 months as Director. Lavalle started receiving delivery on January 22 and are working out the bugs in their renovated space. Recent articles in State Journal as well as Baraboo and Reedsburg papers on reopening. They continue to receive donations of materials and funds.
North Freedom – NOF received a grant in November from the Green Bay Packer Foundation to fund non-traditional items for circulation. Items include a telescope, accuquilt dies, tools and activity kits. They are hosting a sign painting fundraiser in March and will host their 6th annual Easter Egg Hunt with more than 20,000 eggs.
Rock Springs – The library official reopened Monday, 1/15 in the basement of St. John Church. Storytimes are doing well after a slow start, weekly storytime and one weekly afterschool program are currently being offered. The facility offers internet access, printing & copying. Katie is starting Collection Management class for director certification. The library received a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board to do a mural, but are seeking permission to utilize the money for other programming instead.
Sauk City – Library will be fine free soon. Currently doing estimated $3million expansion plan with the Library Board seeking to establish a foundation for fundraising. Library is working on Canopy Digital Services for movies. It is a pay-per use service that offers independent, classic and foreign films. Recent snow-globe making workshop saw 70 attendees. 160 people at Santa program & successful count-down to noon. Hosted Flavors of WI author, Therese Allen, Matt Geiger: Astonishing Tales, an adult craft night. Upcoming programs include A sweetheart’s dance with DJ Superstar, and I Survived program and An Irish Song program with David Blake.
Prairie du Sac – PDS is doing a much-needed refresh of CDs in collection. Have American Girl Dolls available for check-out and hosting an American Girl tea party. Hosted Insect Ambassadors program from UW, Added a sensory-friendly storytime by registration only. Friends purchased sensory friendly tools for use in the library, including chewy bracelets, sunglasses & noise-canceling headphones. Library switched from AtoZ databases to ReferenceUSA in 2019. January staff inservice included presentation on Workforce Development by Mark Jochem as well as conversational Spanish for staff.
Baraboo – Jessica has been at Baraboo for 9mos. Finishing Strategic Plan with WiLS; had 1200 community survey responses and 100 people at the community focus groups. Building project has resulted in preliminary conceptual designs. Baraboo Reads was a response to the community Baraboo responds/Baraboo talks programs. Partnered with UW/Sauk Co/Platteville & Baraboo Schools to read Gift of our Wounds for adults & teens. Publisher donated 100 copies for the program. 10th annual turkey bingo was held at the Ringling Ballroom; Fairytale tea party had 2 sessions of 120 people; library hosting 10+ programs each week for kids & teens; programs include Bookers Buddies at retirement/nursing homes; Lego/Minecraft for kids afterschool, digitize your family photos event, improv night with Creative Alliance of Baraboo and music with friends the 1st Thursday of each month.
Reedsburg – Staff training scheduled 2/18 will include dementia-friendly training, ReferenceUSA training and workforce development training. The Archives are fully moved into the newly renovated space in City Hall, with work to organize and inventory ongoing. Digitization of Historic Surveys is complete and nearly done entering data for upload to Recollection Wisconsin. Library is reconfiguring spaces to add an office and service desk in the children’s area. The project includes new furnishings in the meeting room and story room to. Utilize the Story room as an additional meeting space for library programs and public use. The Friends’ is donating the proceeds of January book sale to the Lavalle library. Friends’ sponsored Movie and a meal program is continuing, with upcoming book sale and Pi€ day Thursday, March 14.
