April 12, 2017

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:02 AM @ Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Stehling, second by Andrews to approve the agenda. Motion carried. All in favor.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Stehling, second by Andrews to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 8, 2017. Motion carried. All in favor.
Public Comment: None.
Communications: The UW-Extension Southern Regional Director and Department of Community Resource Development recommended Erickson for consideration of merit based pay from UW-Extension. Ashford shared correspondence from grant recipients.
Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers:
UW Extension: Budget reviewed. Motion made by Stehling, second by Dietz to approve the March 2017 UW Extension invoices in the amount of $1,933.34. Motion carried. All in favor.
Arts & Culture: Budget reviewed; carry-forward will not be included in budget until April County Board Meeting approval. Motion made by Andrews, second by Dietz to approve the March 2017 Arts & Culture invoices in the amount of $49,936.00. Motion carried. All in favor.
Departmental Updates
UW Extension
ICC Meeting in Dodge County on April 17, 2017 - Dr. Karl Martin will present progress on the nEXT Generation Project. Ashford, Andrews, Spencer and Stehling, Krueger and Erickson plan to attend. A special meeting of a quorum has been posted.
Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) has worked in partnership with UW-Extension for 20 years. The SCIL Board decided to suspend their community leadership program/class for 2018 to reevaluate their structure, mission and programming.
Committee members were updated on process of nEXT Generation project. Tenure offered until 6/30/2018.
FoodWIse Coordinator started in UW-Extension. Caitlin Richardson will cover Dodge, Columbia and Sauk Counties.
Arts & Culture
Updates and recommendations from previous grant process were discussed. Panelists suggested a review of grant guidelines before the next grant cycle. Agenda item in future.
Weisert will assist first and second year applicants with questions and minor changes on their applications before committee reviews to improve the process.
Artist’s Registry – difficult to maintain and stay current; committee recommends we provide links to other artist registries on this webpage.
Wisconsin Arts Board final report has been submitted qualifying Sauk County for re-granting funds.
FoodWIse program update and presentation of FY2018 Contract
Beernink presented contract which basically states the FoodWIse program is federally-funded and Sauk County will provide use of county office space.
Discussion and consideration of strategic issues for Board Midterm discussion
Committee recommends addressing the strategic issue of “What the future of Sauk County UW-Extension should look like?”
Consideration of 2017 Good Idea Grant application(s):
Aldo Leopold (Aldo Leopold & the Ghost of Sandy County): Motion made by Stehling, second by Dietz to approve the $500 good idea grant for the Also Leopold Foundation, Inc. Motion carried. All in favor.
Reedsburg Area Historical Society (Little House books): Motion made by Andrews, second by Dietz to approve the $500 good idea grant for RAHS. Motion carried. All in favor.
Schofield, Jones and Weisert (Portraits of Sauk County): Motion made by Stehling, second by Ashford to approve the $449.03 good idea grant for Sauk County Portraits. Motion carried. All in favor
Village of Sauk City (Historic Preservation Committee): Motion made by Andrews, second by Ashford to approved the $500 good idea grant for the cottonwood tree project. Motion carried. All in favor.
