COMMITTEE: UW - Baraboo/Sauk County Campus Commission

DATE: Thursday, October 17, 2024 TIME: 8:00 AM

PLACE: UW - Baraboo/Sauk County Campus, Executive Dining Room, 1006 Connie Road, Baraboo, WI

This meeting is open to the public. No one should attend the meeting if they are experiencing COVID- or flu-like symptoms, have a fever, sore throat or recently experienced a loss of taste or smell. Masks required.

REASON FOR MEETING: REGULAR

ORDER OF BUSINESS:

Call to order and certification of compliance with open meeting law.
Approval of agenda.
Approval of minutes of previous meeting.
Public comment.
Communications.
Facilities planning and maintenance report.
Financial report and approval of vouchers.
Discussion and possible action on 2025 budget.
Update on the UW System Redevelopment Grant.
Update from student housing advisory committee.
Campus director report.
Discussion and possible action on the Edgewood College School of Nursing.
Motion to convene in closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. s. 19.85(1)(e) "Deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session," to wit: MOU between the City of Baraboo and the County with the UW System.
The Board will reconvene in open session immediately following the closed session, and may have discussion and take official action on matters discussed in closed session.
Set next date and time (November 21, 2024 @ 8:00 a.m.).

Chair Hazard called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. and Compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.

MOTION (Sitton/Lohr) to adopt the agenda. Motion carried unanimiously.

MOTION (Sitton/Lohr) to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried unanimously.

Public comment:

Kevin Calkins of Baraboo, re: Boys and Girls Club.

Communications: None.

Facilities planning and maintenance report:

Crammond gave the committee an update. (report on file).

Financial report and approval of vouchers:

MOTION (Miller/Sitton) to approve vouchers in the amount of $29,859.24. Motion carried unanimously. (report on file)

Discussion and possible action on 2025 budget:

Julie gave the committee an update.

MOTION (Sloan/Sitton) to approve budget with change in amendement to delete $230,000 from the initial budget amount. Motion carried unanimously. VOTE: (6) AYES: Hazard, Sloan, Sitton, Young, Lohr and Miller. NAYS (0).

ABSENT: (1) Hause. Motion carried unanimously.

Update on the UW System Redevelopment Grant:

Melanie Platt-Gibson gave the committee an update.

Update from Student Housing Advisory Committee:

Swallen gave the committee an update.

Campus Director Report:

Swallen gave the committee an update.

Discussion and possible action on the Edgewood College School of Nursing:

Quinn Mullikin, Associate Dean for Graduate Nursing Program gave the committee an update.

MOTION (Lohr/Sitton) to enter into a letter of intent with Edgewood College Nursing School and to develop transitional Nursing program. Motion carried unanimously. VOTE: (6) AYES: Hazard, Sloan, Sitton, Young, Lohr and Miller. NAYS (0). ABSENT: (1) Hause. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion to convene in closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. s. 19.85(1)(e) "Deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session," to wit: MOU between the City of Baraboo and the County with the UW System:

MOTION (Lohr/Sitton) to go into closed session allowing the following to remain in the room the committee members, Miller, Crammond, Nelson, McCumber, Wilson and Desmond.

VOTE: (6) AYES: Hazard, Sloan, Sitton, Young, Lohr and Miller. NAYS (0). ABSENT: (1) Hause. Motion carried unanimously.

Closed session began at 9:03 a.m.

The Board will reconvene in open session immediately following the closed session, and may have discussion and take official action on matters discussed in closed session:

MOTION (Lohr/Nelson) to go into open session. Motion carried unanimously.

The meeting resumed in open session at 9:38 a.m.

MOTION (Miller/Sloan) to adjourn at 9:38 a.m. until November 21, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. Motion carried unanimously.
