Members Present: Ryan Ramnarace (Chair), Cathy Warwick, Sara Jesse, Beverly Albrecht    

Members Absent: Carly Lincoln, Amanda Mohr, Dan Brattset, Brian Basham

Call to order:

The meeting was called to order and certification of Open Meeting Law compliance was given at 3:36 p.m. by Ramnarace.

Adopt agenda:

Motion to adopt the agenda made by Warwick, second by Albrecht. Motion carried.

Approval of minutes:

Motion to approve the minutes made by Albrecht, second by Warwick. Motion carried.

Public Comment: none

Identify committee goals:

The following goals were discussed by the committee:

Develop protocols for peer support in various criminal justice and pre-booking diversion settings, including prison release, jail release, adult treatment court, probation and parole, and youth justice (including liaison officer referrals).

Discussion: Protocol to include recommended criteria for being a peer support provider who works with criminal-justice related individuals. Also to include protocol for resolving interagency conflicts.  Protocol to include client intake survey/assessment. New jail info system will include a substance use survey for those booked at jail. How to connect individuals flagged by this system to a peer specialist? For this goal, we’d need to bring in community partners. What about peer support for youth?  A peer in this case might be someone with a personal juvenile justice history.
 

Develop a checklist of needs and related resources for criminal-justice involved individuals, to be used by peer support providers for assessment and referral.

Discussion: For example: Medicaid, minutes on cell phone, medications, housing, primary care provider, etc.
 

Develop a training manual for peer support providers who are working with criminal-justice involved individuals.

Discussion: There is a forensic peer support manual from Peer Star in Pennsylvania we could use as a basis for developing ours.  Ryan to email us this document.  SAMHSA has a webinar: Cathy to email us info.

Motion to table further discussion and finalization of our goals at our next meeting by Jesse. Second by Warwick

January 8, 2019 at 3:30. Finalize and prioritize goals. Review existing peer support manuals.
