MEETING NOTICE/AGENDA
COMMITTEE: ETHICS INQUIRY BOARD
DATE / TIME: Monday, October 21st, 2024 – 6:00 P.M.
County Board Rm, West Square Building, 505 Broadway, Baraboo, WI
A quorum may be present consisting of members of the Aging & Disability Resource Center Committee; Economic Development Committee; Finance, Personnel & Insurance Committee; Health Resources Committee; Land Resources & Extension Committee; Law Enforcement & Judiciary Committee; Public Works and Infrastructure Committee; and Executive & Legislative Committee. No governing body will exercise any responsibilities, authority, or duties except for the Ethics Inquiry Board. It is possible that a quorum of county board members will be at this meeting to gather information about a subject over which they have decision-making responsibility. This constitutes a meeting of the County Board pursuant to State ex rel Badke v. Greendale Village Board, Wis 2d 553, 494 n.w.2d 408 (1993), and must be noticed as such, although the County Board will not take any formal actions at this meeting. It is also possible that there may be quorums of other County Board Committees/Commission present, although those committees/commissions will not take any formal action at this meeting
REASON FOR MEETING: REGULAR
1. Call to Order and Certify Compliance with Open Meeting Law.
2. Roll call.
3. Adopt agenda
4. Adopt minutes of previous meeting
5. Review, discussion, and possible action Citizen Judy Brey’s ethics complaint against Supervisor Mark “Smooth” Detter
6. Conduct evidentiary hearing Supervisor Detter’s verified ethics complaint against Supervisor Mark Waldon.
7. Conduct evidentiary hearing Supervisor Detter’s verified ethics complaint against Supervisor William “Bill” Stehling.
8. It is anticipated that a motion will be made and seconded and a roll call vote will be taken to enter into Closed Session under Wis. stat. s. 19.85(1)(a) & (g) for the purposes of:
(a) Deliberating concerning a case which was the subject of any judicial or quasi-judicial trial or hearing before that governmental body; and
(g) Conferring with legal counsel for the governmental body who is rendering oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted by the body with respect to litigation in which it is or is likely to become involved.
(Topic: Verified Charges against Supervisors Waldon & Stehling).
Upon completion of this portion of the meeting, it is anticipated the Ethics Inquiry Board will make a motion to return to open session and may hold further discussion and/or take action regarding the verified charges against Supervisors Waldon & Stehling, announce any action taken in closed session and/or consider the remainder of the meeting agenda.
