Emergency Management

WHO WE ARE

Emergency management is the organization and management of resources and responsibilities for dealing with all natural (tornadoes, flood, earthquake, or hurricane) and man-made (active shooter, building collapse, fires, riots) emergencies—preparedness, response, and recovery—in order to reduce the harmful effects of all hazards, including disasters.

Emergency management consists of five phases: prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

Although state and local governments are ready to assist the public during times of emergencies and disasters, preparedness starts at home. In the event of large scale disasters, it may take time to respond immediately.
