Sauk County Parcel Base Map
Abstract:
This product is a compilation of cadastrial data from many sources. These sources include, but are not limited to, U.S. General Land Office survey notes, deeds, plats, survey maps, easements, survey notes from land surveyors, town road records and right-of-way plats. The maps are different scales and were made on dates ranging from the early 1800's to the present. Deeds and other written documentation date from the early 1800's to the present. Deeds and other records date from the early 1800's to the present. Survey practices were used to construct the frame work and are followed where interpretation of information was required. This product is intended to provide a representation of the shape and location of tax parcels and is suitable for the intended use.

      This is a Vector data set.

      Horizontal positions are specified in geographic coordinates, that is, latitude and longitude. Latitudes are given to the nearest 42d 49m 10s. Longitudes are given to the nearest 89d 54m 00s. Latitude and longitude values are specified in Decimal degrees.

      The horizontal datum used is North American Datum of 1983.
      The ellipsoid used is Transverse Mercator.
      The semi-major axis of the ellipsoid used is 6378407.28.
      The flattening of the ellipsoid used is 1/298.2699427815.

>Why was the data set created?

The property assessment maps were created to assist individuals needing taxation and assessment information from the Treasurer/Real Property Department , and to provide a county-wide base for land information activities in Sauk County.

    Approximately 80% of the County is mapped with tax parcel information. The remaining townships that are not mapped in digital format plan to be completed by 2003.

  5. How consistent are the relationships among the observations, including topology?

    All tax parcels are drawn in AutoCad using cogo geometry with parcel/survey information. Using AutoCad Map the parcels are closed and made to be topologically correct for implementation into ArcInfo 8.1 using AML programming routines.
