Meeting Minutes
Committee Members Present: Bailey, Deitrich, Dederich, Felton, Fleischman, Gavin, Machovec, Pate, Simmert
Committee Members Absent: Rathman, Seidl, Wilson
1. Call to order: Meeting called to order at 9:00am
2. Adopt Agenda: Motion by Pat, seconded by Fleischmann to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.
3. Approve Minutes from May 23, 2024 meeting: Motion by Fleischmann, seconded by Machovec to approve minutes from May 23, 2024 meeting. Motion carried.
4. Public Comment: None
5. Communications: None
6. Review of 2024 Projects and Budget Status: Pate handed out 2024 Budget Summary. Budget is on target. Discussed some of the categories and how the overall budget looks at this time.
7. 2025 Land Records Modernization Budget: Discussion 2025 Goals & Priorities
a. Review of final budget: Pate handed out final budget request. Discussion of fund. 2024 to 2025 looks like an increase of use of fund, pending the NG911 Grant application outcome.
8. Discussion of Land Records Activities & Updates by Department
a. Surveyor: Dederich gave report. Discussed records overflow and project to condense files. Remonumentation projects 2001 to present. 2912 corner complete, approximately 156 corners to remon, not including centers of sections.
b. Land Records
i. 2025-2027 Land Records Modernization Plan: Felton discussed the work done on the plan and illustrated that the plan is a final plan since this is last meeting of 2024 for the LIC to meet. A couple grammatical corrections noted, Felton will update the plan accordingly.
- Approve 2025-2027 plan and forward to DOA for final submission: Motion by Felton, seconded by Pate to approve the 2025-2027 Sauk County Land Information Plan and forward on this final document to DOA. No further discussion Motion carried.
ii. Update on Summer Intern work completed: Fleischmann gave update on summer internship. Projects highlighted: zip code boundaries, Address centerline ranges, 3D representation related to High Rock @ Devil’s Lake State Park, Farmland Preservation.
iiI. NG9-1-1 Status: Fleischmann discussed the status of our NG911 data and how we have reached 100% with all our layers cleaned up. He also reported what was applied for in the 2025 NG911 grant application. Looking to get funding for 3” Orthoimagery. Total grant is $156,780.00, with 5% local match that is $7,839.00 of that total amount. Waiting for response on grant application.
iv. 2025 WLIP Grant: Felton discussed the 2025 WLIP Grant. The retained fees are still down, however the grant for this coming year should be around $20,000. With some budget carry over DOA will be able to secure Strategic Initiative Grants at that level.
c. Land Resources & Environment
i. Update on new County Surveyor position: Simmert noted that Excelsior Group, Matt Filus, was offered the position of County Surveyor. It was taken to committee and county board and approved in the last week.
9. Agenda items for next meeting: Will carry forward usual items for January 2025 LIC meeting
10. Tentative 2025 dates: Tues. Jan. 21, 2025 (WSLS Jan.22-24, 2025); Thurs. May 22, 2025; Thurs. Sept.18th or 25th, 2025.
11. Adjournment: Motion by Dederich, seconded by Gavin to adjourn meeting at 9:31am. Motion carried.
