Amending Sauk County Code Ch. 17 Pertaining to Highway Commissioner Terms

Purpose

To amend the highway commissioner term from an indefinite term to a two-year term.

Resolution Body

WHEREAS, this ordinance is adopted pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 83.01 to specify the term of the Sauk County Highway Commissioner; and,

 

WHEREAS, currently Sauk Co. Code § 17.006 provides that the term of the Sauk County Highway Commissioner be an indefinite term, with said term starting on the first day of the month following election; and,

 

            WHEREAS, the Sauk County Highway Committee believes it appropriate for the term of the Highway Commissioner to be a two-year term, commencing on the first day of January following said election, unless said election is to fill a vacancy in an unexpired term, in which case the term shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, met in regular session, that Sauk Co. Code Ch. 17 is hereby amended to read as provided on the attached Addendum to be effective on July 18, 2017.
