Amending Sauk County Code Ch. 17 Pertaining to Highway Department Purchasing

WHEREAS, this ordinance is adopted pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 83.015, to regulate the procedure and methods used by Sauk County for purchasing road machinery and equipment; and,

            WHEREAS, currently, Sauk Co. Code § 17.003 requires Sauk County Board of Supervisor approval of road machinery or equipment purchases exceeding $15,000.00; and

WHEREAS, the Sauk County Highway & Parks Committee believes it is appropriate to increase the amount at which County Board approval is required to purchase road machinery or equipment to $50,000.00.

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, met in regular session, that Sauk Co. Code Ch. 17 is hereby amended to read as provided on the attached Addendum to be effective on July 18, 2017.

For consideration by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors on July 18, 2017.

FISCAL NOTE:   This Ordinance establishes the customary and ordinary duties and responsibilities of the Sauk County Highway Committee and Sauk County Highway Commissioner with respect to purchasing equipment, and gives authority to the Highway Committee to purchase any single unit of machinery or equipment of total cost $50,000 or less without any further approval of the County Board of Supervisors.
