Purpose

To amend SCCO Ch. 1

Background

Background:    Chapter 1 of the Sauk County Code of Ordinances, Supervisory District Plan, currently states that of the areas comprising Supervisory District #12, The Village of Lake Delton has one ward, #3.  Over the years, The Village of Lake Delton annexed a number of properties and created new wards in Supervisory District #12.  (See attached Addendum A – Village of Lake Delton Resolution No. 17-010 and Village of Lake Delton Resolution No. 18-003).  A municipality is required to create a new ward if the annexation results in a ward crossing assembly or congressional district lines. Wis. Stat. § 5.175(7).   A number of Village of Lake Delton annexations resulted in wards crossing assembly or congressional lines, and therefore, by Resolution No. 17-010, The Village Board of the Village of Lake Delton created five additional wards, dividing the Village of Lake Delton into eight wards, and in Resolution No. 18-003, created two additional wards, dividing the Village of Lake Delton into ten wards.   Of those wards, Wards 1 and 2 are in Supervisory District #1.  Wards 3-10 are in Supervisory District #12.    The population of the wards is as follows:  Ward 3 – 914; Ward 4 – 1; Ward 5 – 0; Ward 6 – 2; Ward 7 – 4; Ward 8 – 1; Ward 9 – 0; and Ward 10 – 0.  The Supervisory District Plan in Chapter 1 of the Sauk County Code of Ordinances should be amended to reflect the correct Village of Lake Delton wards and population of each ward comprising Supervisory District #12.
