SAUK COUNTY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION’S FALL LEADERSHIP FORUM
TO EXPLORE ATTRACTING, RETAINING YOUNG TALENT, NOV. 19
BARABOO, WISCONSIN; October 21, 2015 – The Sauk County Development Corporation will explore how to attract and retain the next generation in Sauk County at its Fall Leadership Forum, called #nextgensaukcounty, on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Baraboo Arts Banquet & Convention Center, 319 Water Street in Baraboo. Social hour, featuring a buffet catered by Culver’s Blue Spoon Café, will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a program at 7:00 p.m.
“As the number of Millennials begins to surpass the number of Baby Boomers in the workforce, we must focus our attention on how we can attract and retain this next generation in rural Sauk County,” noted Roger Friede, Jr., Sauk County Development Corporation Board President. “We must address the issue now in order to ensure that Sauk County remains competitive as a great place in which to live and work. This year’s Fall Leadership Forum is designed to engage the greater Sauk County community in discussion that will inspire collaboration. Sauk County Development Corporation aims to be at the center of that discussion and collaboration.”
The Fall Leadership Forum’s program will feature presentations by Tom Still and Ian Abston, followed by a moderated panel discussion of young professionals from throughout Sauk County.
Still is president of the Wisconsin Technology Council, the nonprofit, bipartisan science and technology policy advisory board to the Governor and Legislature. The Tech Council’s programs include the Wisconsin Innovation Network and other tech-based economy initiatives. The former associate editor of the Wisconsin State Journal, Still writes a weekly syndicated technology, economics and politics column, “Inside Wisconsin.”
Abston is the co-founder of NEWaukee, a social architecture firm that works with corporations to engage and retain their talent, showcasing the best side of Milwaukee for the next generation of leaders. In addition, the organization coordinates regularly scheduled events in Milwaukee and hosts YPWeek Wisconsin in cities across the state. On November 5, NEWaukee will host ypsummit & retreat, the nation’s first conference dedicated to the development of young professional organization leaders.
The Fall Leadership Forum is made possible through the generosity of Bank of Wisconsin Dells, The Baraboo National Bank, Cell.Plus, Community First Bank, Culver Franchising System, Friede & Associates, J. Stevens Productions, Jewell Associates Engineers, Kraemer Brothers, Madison Area Technical College, MBE CPAs, Next Level Creative and SSM Health Wisconsin - St. Clare Hospital & Dean.
Fall Leadership Forum tickets are $20.00 per person. The reservation deadline is November 5. For more information, contact Keri Olson, Sauk County Community & Public Relations Analyst, at (608) 355-4840 or kolson@co.sauk.wi.us.
