Armed Bank Robbery - Plain

News Release

 

On October 7, 2014, at about 9:59 AM, two masked men, armed with what appeared to be small caliber handguns entered the Peoples Community Bank in the Village of Plain, Sauk County.

The men directed their weapons at the bank employees, and forced them to turn over money from different areas of the bank.

After a short time inside, the men directed all bank employees to a corner of the facility and proceeded to spray them with suspected pepper spray, after which the suspects fled from the bank.

The men are suspected to be African-American. They were wearing dark colored clothing with the majority of their facial features covered.

The men escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

All bank employees were transported to Sauk Prairie Hospital for treatment for exposure to the suspected pepper spray and were released.

The Sauk County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the Plain and Spring Green ambulance services, Spring Green Police Department, Sauk Prairie Police Department, Baraboo Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and Sauk County Emergency Management.

This case remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriffs Office and will be assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
