The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that an arrest has been made in the homicide first reported on September 22nd, 2019, that occurred in a rural area of the Township of Fairfield.

Sheriff Chip Meister said, “Detectives from my office have worked this case in a tireless and resolute manner with the ultimate goal of finding the killer of Christopher Lytle and bringing them to justice. Today, I am thrilled to say that an arrest in this case was made on Wednesday, October 9th.”

Detectives made contact with the suspect, 35 year old Amber M. Lundgren of Richland Center, WI in the morning hours of October 9th, during which she was confronted with the evidence obtained throughout the investigation, after which Lundgren admitted to causing the death of Christopher Lytle on September 21st, 2019 at the location where his body was found.

Detectives found that there was a prior relationship between Lytle and Lundgren and that this was not a random act.

This investigation is continuing at this time. A probable cause statement is being prepared and will be forwarded to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office for preparation of the Criminal Complaint. A date for Lundgrens bail appearance has not yet been set. She remains in custody at the Sauk County Jail awaiting that hearing.

Specific details of the crime and statements of the suspect are being withheld at this time in order for the evidence to be presented through the orderly procedures of the court so as not to circumvent the pre-trial discovery process so that the Defendant receives a fair trial.

“We are pleased with the results of this investigation. I commend the diligent work of the Detectives who worked this case and thank the numerous other agencies who assisted us along the way to bring this to a successful resolution,” said Meister.
