Baraboo Man Charged

 

On 10/25/15 Kenno M. Solesby-Funmaker, age 18, of Baraboo, was arrested and booked into the Sauk County Jail.  At 12:46am the Sauk County Communications Center received a call regarding Solesby-Funmaker breaking into a residence in Bluffview Estates, North Freedom, Township of Sumpter.  Shortly after that the Baraboo Police Department responded to a residence in the City of Baraboo for a report that Solesby-Funmaker had discharged a firearm inside a residence and fled.  Solesby-Funmaker returned to Bluffview Estates where he was located and taken into custody.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office charged Solesby-Funmaker with:

  • Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide (2 counts)
  • 1st Degree Reckless Endangering Safety
  • Burglary with Intent to Commit a Felony
  • Criminal Damage to Property
  • Resisting/Obstructing an Officer
  • Felony Bail Jumping (6 counts)

The Baraboo Police Department charged Solesby-Funmaker with:

  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Endangering Safety With The Use Of A Dangerous Weapon
  • Felony Bail Jumping

The preliminary investigation revealed that on 10/24/15 Solesby-Funmaker went to a residence in Bluffview where he broke into an acquaintances apartment and caused extensive damage.  Prior to leaving he pointed a hand gun at two adults and pulled the trigger several times but the hand gun did not discharge.  Solesby-Funmaker then went to a residence in the City of Baraboo where he created a disturbance, pulled out a hand gun and pulled the trigger twice.  The firearm did not discharge the first time but discharged the second time. Solesby-Funmaker then returned to Bluffview where he threatened to go to kill his acquaintance from the earlier incident.

Solesby-Funmaker was spotted by a sheriff’s deputy in Bluffview.  They deputy ordered Solesby-Funmaker to stop at which time Solesby-Funmaker raised a firearm in the direction of the deputy and pulled the trigger but the firearm did not fire and Solesby-Funmaker ran behind a multi family living complex.  Shortly after that Solesby-Funmaker was located and ordered to stop and a K-9 was deployed.  Solesby-Funmaker was then taken into custody.

Solesby-Funmaker is being held in the Sauk County Jail.  Sauk County Deputies were assisted by officers from the Baraboo Police Department, Sauk Prairie Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and Wisconsin DNR.  Additional charges may be forthcoming pending further investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff's Department and Baraboo Police Department.
