Car Fire results in death

On February 15th, 2019 at 5:47PM the Sauk County Communications Center received a call of a vehicle fire in the 500 block of Cemetery Street in the Village of Merrimac. The vehicle was reportedly occupied and on the front lawn of a residence. Sauk County Sheriff deputies responded to the scene along with the Merrimac Fire Department.

The Merrimac Fire Department arrived on scene to find a vehicle fully involved with fire. An investigation after the vehicle was extinguished revealed that the operator, Ricky J. Guillen, age 50 of Prairie Du Sac had driven his 1994 Buick Park Avenue into the front yard of a residence and became stuck in snow. Witnesses at the scene state that while Guillen was attempting to back out of the lawn, the vehicle started on fire. Witnesses attempted to remove Guillen from the vehicle but were unsuccessful. Guillen was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sauk County Coroner’s Office.

The Merrimac Fire Department and Sauk Prairie EMS assisted the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
