Disorderly Conduct - UPDATE
On August 11th, 2024 Sauk County Deputies were conducting extra patrol in the rural Reedsburg area, after multiple reports of harassment behavior towards members of the Amish Community. Contact was made with a suspect vehicle involved. As a result of the investigation, nine juveniles from the Reedsburg area were cited for disorderly conduct.

In early August 2024 deputies with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into several reports of ongoing incidents taking place on the western half of Sauk County. The behaviors reported included air horns being sounded outside homes, lights being shined on the exterior of homes, windows being knocked on, and doorbells rung. It was reported that these behaviors were taking place at night, primarily between the hours of 9 PM to 1130 PM. The sheriff’s office received several varying descriptions of vehicles and individuals that may be associated with these behaviors.
Sauk County deputies were conducting enhanced enforcement attempting to locate and identify the individuals engaging in these behaviors. A deputy observed a suspicious vehicle in the area on the night of August 11th at approximately 10:19 PM and conducted a traffic stop. Several juveniles were located inside the vehicle and the deputies determined they were associated with the reported behaviors. Throughout their contact the deputies determined these juveniles were part of a larger group that had been engaging in these behaviors. Over the coming days deputies and detectives conducted interviews with numerous juveniles regarding these incidents, and as a result 9 juveniles were issued citations for their involvement. These interviews were done in cooperation with the juveniles and their parents regarding these incidents.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was able to substantiate the following acts as having taken place over the course of their investigation:
Air horns being blown outside residences
Lights being shined at the exterior of residences
Doorbells being rung during hours of darkness
Knocking on exterior windows during hours of darkness
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office is aware of numerous other reported behaviors that were rumored to have been taking place. Deputies have investigated these reports, and at this time they were found to be unsubstantiated.
