DOJ completes Muchow Review
On August 7, 2017 an article appeared in the Baraboo News Republic authored by Tim Damos. The article referenced a review that I had been requested to complete on allegations against former Highway Commissioner Steve Muchow. My Chief Deputy and myself reviewed the documents and concluded a criminal investigation was not warranted. Accusations were made that I came to that conclusion due to a personal and professional relationship with Steve Muchow.
In light of that accusation against me, I requested the Wisconsin Department of Justice to fully investigate both the allegations against Muchow and my review of those allegations.
On February 28, 2018 I received notification from Wisconsin Department of Justice concluding that Muchow’s actions did not warrant criminal charges. The investigation was closed without any action taken or charges filed, thereby confirming my initial assessment of the allegations claimed against Muchow.
