Drug Trafficking Arrest

In late February of 2018, the Sauk County Drug Task Force opened an investigation into the sales of Crack Cocaine in and around the Village of West Baraboo. A traffic Stop was conducted as part of this investigation on March 12th, 2018 in the Township of Greenfield.

During the course of the stop, Deputies smelled the odor of Marijuana in the car. Investigation identified the passenger as, Lavekeio L. Smith, 40 years old, of Baraboo, who was on probation for convictions in 2016 for Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine (5-15 grams), and three counts of Manufacture or Delivery of Cocaine (1-5grams).

A search of the vehicle revealed 19.6 grams of marijuana and 0.8 grams of crack cocaine. Smith was arrested for a Probation Violation, and has also been charged with new criminal offenses of Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine (less than one gram), Possession of THC second or subsequent offense, Delivery of Cocaine (1-5grams), and two additional counts of Delivery of Cocaine (less than one gram).

Smith was taken to the Sauk County Jail where he is currently awaiting a bail hearing.
