During the early morning hours of March 4, 2011 the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was informed that a female was being treated at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston for injuries sustained in a disturbance between her and her boyfriend Kyle Gartska , age 29, of Reedsburg. Kyle is a Deputy with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office. At the request of Sauk County, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department has been requested to investigate this incident.

Sheriff Chip Meister states “I requested an outside agency to investigate this to make sure there was an impartial investigation.” “This incident will be investigated thoroughly and I assure you that the integrity of the Sheriff’s Office is in intact” said Meister.

Gartska has been with the department for 7 years and is assigned to the jail. Gartska was placed on Administrative Leave on March 4 pending the outcome of an internal investigation and a criminal investigation.
