Juvenile referred in Devils Lake Damage case / Crimestoppers

Vandalism at Devils Lake

A 16 year old juvenile from Onalaska, WI has been referred to juvenile court in connection to the numerous acts of vandalism involving spray paint graffiti from Aug 10th 2016. Devil’s Lake officials from the DNR reported that the main entrance sign leading to the North Shore of the park had been painted over with satanic symbols. Upon further investigation, numerous road signs in the area and other structures in the park were also spray painted causing extensive damage.

Working through Sauk County Crime Stoppers, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office received a number of tips and information regarding the incident. Sheriff’s Detectives interviewed a number of individuals in LaCrosse County and served a search warrant in the City of Onalaska during this investigation. 

The 16 year old suspect was vacationing with relatives in the area during the time of the vandalism and it is unknown at this time if others will be charged. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens that their input and information in matters like these are vital to their investigations. 

Other cases solved by citizen involvement and tips

Recently, 4 other incidents where anonymous tips were received helped in the arrest of 3 persons who were wanted by Sauk County authorities due to outstanding charges/arrest warrants, and another tip resulted in a narcotics arrest at the Reedsburg High School. Sauk County Crime Stoppers is also working with the Sauk Prairie Police Department regarding numerous acts of criminal damage to government and personal property including road signs, mail boxes and slashed tires.
