Loganville Fire - *****UPDATE*****

     On March 7, 2013 at approximately 8:35am the Sauk County Sheriff’s Communications Center was notified of a structure fire at 225 Main Street in the Village of Loganville.  It was reported that one occupant was trapped in a downstairs apartment.  The Loganville Fire Department  and Sauk County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the scene.  This address is a two story, four unit apartment building. 

     Responding Loganville Fire units found heavy fire inside the building.  Mutual aid was requested from Hillpoint Fire Department, Reedsburg Fire Department, LaValle Fire Department, and Plain Fire Department.  Ambulance Personnel from Reedsburg Ambulance, Plain Ambulance, and Baraboo Ambulance also responded.

     This apartment building housed four single tenants.  One of these tenants was unable to escape the fire and was pronounced dead at the scene by Sauk County Coroner Greg Hahn.  No other injuries were reported to the other occupants; however, they are all displaced.  The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

     In addition to the above responding departments, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office and Loganville Fire Department were also assisted by the Sauk County Highway Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Alliant Energy, and Salvation Army.  This incident remains under investigation by the Loganville Fire Department and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim has been identified as Katherine J. Pierce, age 70, of Loganville.
