Loganville Man Injured While Firing a Cannon

Special News Release

On May 2, 2012 at approximately 8:10 pm, the Plain Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to the Schellter Bar and Grill in the Village of Leland for a report of a male subject who was injured while firing a cannon.

Leroy Schell, age 52, owner of the Schellter Bar and Grill, was firing the cannon as part of a celebration for the Cannon Run. As he was loading the second round, it fired early hitting him in the arm and causing severe injuries to his arm and hand. He was taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this incident but at this time there does not appear to be anything suspicious regarding the accident.
